About Us
Family roots. Street food soul. Oakland heart.
My name is Katie Huynh, and I’m the founder, chef, and one-woman powerhouse behind Nana Viet Kitchen.
This restaurant has been a dream in the making for over a decade. I’ve spent the last 10+ years working in the restaurant industry - behind the scenes, on the line, serving customers, learning every corner of what makes a kitchen run. But it wasn’t until the pandemic hit that I finally started cooking my own food and sharing it with the world.
Like a lot of people, I turned to what I knew best during COVID: home cooking. I started selling Vietnamese meals online to friends and neighbors just to get by - and to my surprise, they kept coming back. What started as a survival side hustle slowly turned into something more: a community of people who truly loved and connected with the flavors I grew up with.
